Dozens Detained in Cities Nationwide as Protests for Breonna Taylor Continue

Protests continued across the nation this weekend, still fueled by outrage over the Grand Jury’s decision in the death of Breonna Taylor. At the epicenter of the unrest in Louisville, most protests were peaceful. However there were instances of demonstrators and police officers clashing. Fires were set, windows smashed, buildings defaced, and even fireworks set off inside a vehicle sitting in a university parking lot. At least 25 people were arrested on Saturday on charges such as rioting, curfew violations and theft. In California, a 40-year-old woman is charged with attempted murder and assault after running over two protesters in her vehicle. The victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. New York, Oregon, and Washington also continued to see similar scenes of unrest with dozens more detained for varying charges of disorderly conduct. Indicted former Officer Brett Hankison will be arraigned today. He’s expected to plead not guilty.
