Coronavirus May Have Been in U.S. Earlier Than Initially Thought
As cases surpass 6.6 million with over 196,000 deaths nationwide, a new study is suggesting the coronavirus was in the U.S. as early as December. This is over a month earlier than initially thought. The study conducted by UCLA researchers was published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research. When looking at nearly 10 million medical records, they discovered a significant increase in hospitalizations and clinical visits occurring as early as December 22nd with patients reporting respiratory-related illnesses. But despite the numbers, there are still health experts who say this is impossible and have chalked the numbers up to a coincidence. Meanwhile, the world continues to wait for a vaccine. It was just revealed the global AstraZeneca phase three trials were halted after a participant suffered damage to her spinal cord. The FDA is now closely monitoring the resumption of testing.
