Sally made landfall in the U.S. this morning as a slow moving and life-threatening category 2 hurricane. She touched down on the Alabama-Florida state line around 5:45 a.m. with winds reaching 105 mph. Thousands of people have been evacuated from coastal areas threatened by the storm surge. Those who stayed behind have been warned to remain inside due to threats of hazardous debris. Historic flooding and rainfall is also expected across Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Those areas are predicted to see between 10 and 30 inches. Already hundreds of thousands of reports of power outages have been received across multiple states. Disastrous conditions are expected in Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi through the rest of the day as the storm continues to move at a speed 2 mph. In Florida, 175 national guard members have already been deployed for search and rescue. Sally is heading north and will eventually turn northeast. Flash flood warnings have been put into effect for the Carolinas for tomorrow and Friday.
