New Grand Jury Deliberating Over Death of Breonna Taylor
Major developments were made this week in regards to investigation into the death of Breonna Taylor. The 26-year-old EMT was fatally shot seven times in her Kentucky home by Louisville Metro Police in March. While carrying out a late-night “no-knock” narcotics warrant, they broke down the door and fired at Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, who was legally armed. He was arrested for first degree assault and attempt to murder but the charges were later dropped. He’s now suing the city and police department claiming he acted in self defense. Meanwhile, only one of the three officers involved in Taylor’s death was fired and he’s working to appeal his case. However, a grand jury that was impaneled this week is expected to possibly announce charges soon against those officers. Similarly, in New York and Wisconsin, grand juries have been formed in the death of Daniel Prude and the shooting of Jacob Blake which left him paralyzed. Both juries are also deliberating on whether to press charges.
