Manhunt Underway in Cleveland After Officer, Second Victim Killed During Shooting

In Cleveland, Ohio, a manhunt is underway after a police officer was killed in the line of duty last night. The incident occurred in the west side of the city around 10 p.m. It’s believed 53-year-old Officer James Skernivitz lost his life while driving in his patrol car. He was shot at several times before crashing his vehicle. It’s reported he died as a result of his injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital. He had been with the force for 22 years. An unidentified second victim was also killed. He was not an officer but was inside the car at the time of the shooting and crash. No arrests have been made but a manhunt is underway for the suspect or suspects believed to be responsible. No information on them has been revealed to the public, either. Police Chief Calvin Williams said of the deceased veteran that “Cleveland lost one of its finest tonight. He was out doing what all police officers do – trying to protect the people of our city – and he gave his life.”
