President Trump Visiting Kenosha, WI Today Despite Pleas To Reconsider

President Trump still intends to visit Kenosha, Wisconsin today despite warnings from state officials to reconsider. Among those pleading with the president include Governor Tony Evers who penned a letter requesting he stay away for now. He fears the visit may further “fan the flames” of unrest. The governor is also concerned it’ll “require a massive re-direction of resources” presently needed to maintain order in the city. Kenosha’s mayor and Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes also agreed the trip would not be helpful and create more of a divide in the city. However, their efforts have done little to deter President Trump’s controversial decision to visit the city and survey the nearly 2 million dollars in damage done. Since the shooting of Jacob Blake, dozens of fires have been set to businesses, buildings and cars. Vandalism and other destruction of property, including traffic signals, were also committed. The president’s plans for today further include speaking with local law enforcement officials.
