DNR Investigating After Alligator Found Dead With Gunshot Wounds, No Tail
The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is investigating after a dead alligator was found with gunshot wounds.
The animal was discovered by Georgetown County fisherman Todd Vick in the Waccamaw River in the Murrells Inlet area. Vick said he was “mortified” to find the animal with three gunshot wounds, a hook in his leg, rope and tape tied around his snout, and missing a tail. Vick believes the gator wasn’t just killed, but poached in a severely inhumane way. DNR is now investigating since numerous rules were broken and alligator hunting season doesn’t start until September 12th.
