At Least 360 Wildfires Now Reported in California
The fires in California have grown exponentially worse as hundreds now rage out of control. Within 72 hours, nearly 11,000 lightning bolts struck the state and ignited the fires. It’s predicted there are at least 367 with 26 considered “major blazes”. There are also reports of two giant clusters of fires burning across ten counties. Multiple people have been injured and one water dropping helicopter pilot died after his aircraft crashed. Furthermore, at least 37,000 residents across the state have lost power and thousands more have been forced to evacuate their homes. At least 100 structures have been damaged or completely destroyed in one California city alone. Hundreds of thousands of acres of land have been lost. As the record breaking heat wave and lightening blitz continues, the state of emergency remains in place. Nearly 400 out of state fire engines have been requested to aid the effort in suppressing the blazes.
