City of Charleston Cracking Down on Face Mask Violators
The city of Charleston is no longer issuing warnings over face mask violations. Instead, the Charleston City Council approved a vote that will allow law enforcement to issue first time offenders an immediate ticket and $100 fine. City leaders confirmed they made the decision to crack down on violators after weeks of warnings have been ignored. It’s believed around 65% of residents currently comply to the mask mandate. Furthermore, second time offenders will receive a $200 fine and third time offenders a $500 fine.
