Three Officers Injured, 18 Arrested After Another Riot Declared in Seattle

Numerous officers were injured and at least 18 people arrested following a riot that broke out in Seattle last night. An estimated 100 people made their way to the Seattle Police Officers Guild in what initially began as a peaceful protest. However, within a few hours things took a violent turn as rocks, bottles and fireworks were thrown at law enforcement officers. It was also reported a large explosive was set off and an attempt made to break the window of a police vehicle. Authorities quickly declared the gathering a riot and began firing blast balls and pepper spraying the crowd. In total, three officers were hurt. It’s reported one sustained a black eye, another has a burn on their neck, and the third officer had to be hospitalized but the severity of their injuries is unknown at this time. Eighteen rioters were also arrested. This all comes just days after the city’s police chief announced her retirement as a result of the city’s plan to defund the department.
