North Carolina State Board of Elections Looking to Hire 25,000 Poll Workers

The North Carolina State Board of Elections is in need of 25,000 poll workers for November. Normally, they rely on older populations to serve. However, since they are more at risk of contracting Covid-19, many of their usual volunteers will not be returning. It’s a paid position and workers will be trained. The only requirement is that applicants are registered to vote in the county they wish to serve. High school students younger than 18 will also be able to apply if they meet certain requirements. The board chairman has confirmed they’ve already received more than 4,000 applications. Recommended safety precautions will be implemented and PPE provided for all voters and staff.
