“Disruptive” Patrons Cited for Not Wearing Masks in Surfside Beach Restaurant

One Surfside Beach restaurant was forced to call the cops after a pair of patrons refused to wear masks. The owner of Hamburger Joe’s, who received backlash over the incident, wanted to clarify it was not the customers refusal to wear masks that led them to call police. It was the “disruptive” behavior they exhibited in protest of the mask mandate. This included grabbing a hostess by her arm, demanding they be served, and yelling expletives. The owner said, “they were making a huge scene in the restaurant where safety was a concern.” Not even the arrival of Surfside police could sway the couple’s actions. They were each cited $100 for violating Governor McMaster’s executive order.
