CEOs From Major Tech Giants Testify Before Congress Today

And from one major hearing to another, the CEOs of four tech giants are also expected to go before the House Judiciary Committee today. Over the course of 13 months, top lawmakers in Congress have been investigating Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google in order to determine whether any of these big tech companies have abused their power in order to dominate the online marketplace. CEOs Eric Schmidt, Mark Zuckerburg, Tim Cook, and Jeff Bezos will testify alongside each other today in what’s being considered the biggest hearing of its kind since Bill Gates in 1998. The virtual hearing which began at noon is expected to go over a plethora of issues. This includes Amazon’s use of seller data, Apple’s app store policies, Facebook’s domain over advertising, Google’s search practices, and more. The CEOs are expected to argue they’ve done more help then harm. This includes their ability to promote entrepreneurs and small businesses, as well as turning the U.S. into a lead innovator in the global technology market.
