Attorney General William Barr Testified Before Congress Yesterday

Yesterday, Attorney General William Barr gave testimony before the House Judiciary Committee. The hours long event was an investigation into numerous issues involving Barr including the deployment of federal troops amid national protests. But he was more specifically scrutinized over his potential involvement in the outcomes of two Justice Department prosecutions that involved allies of President Trump. That would be the trials of both Roger Stone and Michael Flynn. It’s believed Barr, who was appointed by Trump, may have abused his power in order to turn the verdicts in the president’s favor. Barr maintained he was impartial to the law and had “complete freedom” to do “what is right.” Barr also added that in both cases he agreed “the president’s friends don’t deserve special breaks, but they also don’t deserve to be treated more harshly than other people.” He further rejected claims the deployment of federal troops to places such as Portland was a tactic in effort to boost certain political alignments.
