Minneapolis Police Believe They Have Identified the “Umbrella Man”
Minneapolis police believe they have identified a suspect who incited riots in the city following the death of George Floyd. The culprit who was dubbed the “Umbrella Man” went viral back on May 27th after a video of him smashing windows and defacing the building of an AutoZone store surfaced online. That same building was then set on fire. It’s largely believed by local law enforcement and arson investigators that this man’s actions were intent on stirring tensions in order to spark the rioting and destruction by what were initially peaceful protesters. A warrant has been issued for the unnamed suspect who is believed to be closely affiliated with a group called the “Aryan Cowboys” which the Anti-Defamation League describes as a white supremacist prison and street gang. It’s believed the suspect is also a member of the Hell’s Angels group. No charges have been filed as of yesterday afternoon, but the case “remains open and active.”
