Protests Continue in Multiple Cities Across the U.S.
More protests, arrests and calls for justice took place across the U.S. over the weekend.
In Seattle, at least 47 protesters were arrested on Saturday night. The department of homeland security has said a response team from U.S. customs and border protection will be sent to the city to remain on standby to help protect federal facilities. Other demonstrations took place in Aurora, Colorado, Oakland, California, Louisville, Kentucky and more. There was also unrest in Portland, Oregon, which has become a focal point of ongoing demonstrations after President Trump sent federal agents to the city earlier this month to protect federal property. Portland police detained two people last night after a gunshot was fired during a protest near the federal courthouse. Police say they discovered a bag loaded with rifle magazines and molotov cocktails in a park near the protest area. It’s not clear if the gunshot fired had any direct connection to the bag or the nearby protest. As police were securing the scene, a gunshot victim arrived at the hospital by private vehicle. The incident is still under investigation.
