Mother Who Abandoned Infant in Wilmington Trash Gave Birth in Toilet
There’s an update on the baby that was found last week inside a trash bin at a church in Wilmington.
A search warrant filed by Wilmington police allege the infant was left in a toilet for nearly seven hours before he was sealed in a black trash bag, placed in a trunk and then left in the garbage can. Warrants also suggest the baby boy was in the black bag for about an hour before being rescued. The 21 year old mother, who was identified as Maryuri Estefany Calix-Macedo, told police she knew her child was alive because he was crying. She’s been charged with attempted murder and remains in jail with an $800,000 bond. Meanwhile, the father told officers he had no idea she was pregnant and was out of town at the time of the birth.
