Fall Semester Approaching Fast, Administrators Try to Accommodate Pandemic
Schools across the U.S. are set to resume in a little over a month but many remain unsure how to do it safely as the pandemic rages on. President Trump has been very vocal over his desire to have regular in-person classes return for the fall, despite warnings from top health officials including Dr. Anthony Fauci. Many others also believe this is a mistake. Florida recently announced they will require their instruction to return with in-person classes. However many teachers have claimed to do so could be deadly especially since they have not been given proper guidance in regards to regulations or other safety precautions that need to be implemented. Furthermore, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and her department are now being sued by five states and the District of Columbia. They’re accusing her of planning to take “coronavirus relief funds away from K-12 public schools and divert the money to private ones.” The $13.2 billion dollars in question is meant to aid students nationwide, especially those from low-income families who have suffered most as a result of schools closing.
