U.S. Experiences Highest Increase in COVID-19 Cases Since Pandemic Began
Yesterday, the U.S. recorded almost 36,000 new coronavirus cases, the worst single-day increase since the pandemic began. The country’s most populous states largely attributed to this new disturbing mile stone. California reported over 7,000 new cases, shattering their previous record set just a day prior by almost 2,000 more people. Both Florida and Texas also broke their previous records set earlier this week after over 5,000 people in each state tested positive for COVID-19. In total, over 2.4 million people have been infected and over 124,000 killed nationwide. New York, New Jersey and Connecticut also banded together yesterday to announce a new mandatory 14-day quarantine travel restriction for residents returning from or visiting from hot spot states. This is effective immediately for any state with a positive testing rate of 10% or higher, or rate of 10 per 100,000 people, continuously over a seven day period.
