One Detective Fired for Involvement in Death of Breonna Taylor

One of the Louisville detectives involved in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor has been fired. This announcement comes more than 3 months after the 26-year-old EMT was killed in her own home. Officers reportedly entered the premise on a no-knock narcotics warrant in the middle of the night. Taylor’s boyfriend said he assumed at the time they were victims of a break-in and began shooting at the officers who returned fire. Taylor was shot a total of eight times. Her death has been one of several that largely influenced recent Black Lives Matter protests. Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer said the decision was his idea. It’s believed the former detective, Brett Hankison, was terminated effective immediately for appearing to show “extreme indifference” towards the incident, and for endangering the lives of Taylor’s neighbors after firing into the apartment next door. While Taylor’s family was excited by the news, they said they will not stop until all those involved are held responsible.
