COVID-19 Cases on the Rise in South Carolina
South Carolina recorded its highest single day increase of new coronavirus cases yesterday. Statewide, 542 cases and 11 more deaths were reported. This brings the state’s total to 14,800 cases and 557 lives lost. DHEC has also designated Horry County as an official hot spot now. 61 of the cases reported yesterday came from this county alone. DHEC Physician Dr. Brannon Traxler attributed these alarming numbers to a relaxing of statewide guidelines and refusal to follow the advice of public health professionals. Increased testing sites could also be a factor.
