New York Begins Reopening, Other States Report Spikes in COVID-19 Cases
As New York finally eases restrictions, coronavirus cases appear to be on the rise in other states. Protests over the last couple weeks continued despite the state of New York still being on lock down. They were the epicenter of the outbreak, suffering the greatest amount of cases and over 21,000 lives lost to COVID-19. After three months and a decline in cases, Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced they can begin reopening their economy but on a limited basis and with a lot of restrictions. Still, thousands of people will be able to go back to work. Other hard hit states such as Illinois, Connecticut, and New Jersey have also been reporting a decrease in cases and deaths. However, California, Utah, Arizona, North Carolina, Florida, Arkansas, Texas, and more are reporting an increase in infections. As of yesterday, the CDC has reported over 1.9 million cases and almost 110,000 deaths.
