President Trump Threatens to Move GOP National Convention to Another State
The 2020 Republican National Convention may not take place in North Carolina as originally planned. President Trump is threatening to pull the convention out of Charlotte after democratic Governor Roy Cooper told him they cannot guarantee they will be able to fill the arena to capacity in a safe manner due to the pandemic. The president said he loves the great state of North Carolina and insisted from the beginning the convention be held there but is second-guessing that now. This news came as a shock to those who have been hard at work planning the event and who have continually stated their priority is the health and safety of attendees. The president said if they cannot give immediate reassurance, he will be forced to take the convention elsewhere. States such as Florida and Georgia have already stepped up to act as hosts instead.
