All U.S. States Partially Reopened as of Today
As of today, every U.S. state will have begun to reopen. Connecticut was the last state to begin lifting its restrictions. Today, residents who have been under stay-at-home orders since late March will be allowed to dine at outdoor restaurants and go to retail shops. Offices, museums, zoos and outdoor recreation will also be allowed to reopen. While this seems like a great step towards recovery, only sixteen states have actually seen a steady downward trend in coronavirus cases. Georgia and Florida have come under fire for releasing false COVID-19 reports. Georgia already issued an apology for the “processing error” that led to a misleading chart being posted on their dashboard that showed a decrease in daily cases. Similarly in Florida, the official behind their dashboard says she was removed from her position and now has doubts concerning validity of Florida’s reporting moving forward. These states were among the first to reopen.
