Police Chase Leads to Deadly Shooting at Rest Area

A deadly police-involved shooting is currently under investigation. The incident began early this morning on I-95 after police pursued a vehicle traveling about 104 miles per hour. The driver led them down I-26 toward Charleston when they came to a stop at a rest area in Ladson. There was an exchange of gunfire both during the pursuit and at the rest stop. It has been reported one suspect died as a result and another is in custody. Their information has not been released. It’s been confirmed at least two Berkeley County deputies were placed on administrative leave with pay pending a full investigation.
