House to Introduce National Public Health Corps Bill
One bill that does appear to be receiving bipartisan support is the National Public Health Corps. As opposed to offering relief in the form of direct financial assistance, the bill aims to provide jobs for struggling Americans while also addressing the current health and economic crisis. The Corps is expected to employ hundreds of thousands of people who will work on essential things such as testing, contact tracing, and eventually COVID-19 vaccinations. The Corps would work in conjunction with the Corporation for National and Community Service, the CDC, and Health and Human Services. About 300,000 people are expected to be employed through the program which would cost millions of dollars to start. While this seems like a lot, it’s only a fraction of the trillion-dollar legislation democrats are currently considering.
