DOJ Asked to Look Into “Mishandling” of Ahmaud Arbery Death Investigation
The death investigation of Georgia man Ahmaud Arbery has further developed over the weekend. Georgia’s Attorney General Chris Carr has requested a full investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice into the “mishandling” of 25-year-old Arbery’s death. This includes looking into why it took so long for an arrest to be made. Carr also requests the first two district attorneys assigned to the case be looked into after both recused themselves over personal connections to one of the suspects, 64-year-old Gregory McMichael. Celebrities such as Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Meek Mill, Yo Gatti and more have penned an open letter to Georgia state officials demanding “swift justice.” Video footage of Arbery just moments before his death was also recently released. It shows him entering a housing construction site and looking around before leaving. Arbery’s family attorney has confirmed it is him and says this proves he was not engaged in any illegal activity at the time.
