Death of Ahmaud Arbery Will Go Before Georgia Grand Jury

The case of the unarmed Georgia man who was chased down and fatally shot will go before a grand jury. 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery was killed February 23rd while jogging in a neighborhood outside Brunswick. Former District Attorney Investigator, Gregory McMichael and his son Travis thought Arbery was a burglary suspect and may be armed. After chasing him down in their truck, Travis and Arbery engaged in a physical fight over Travis’ gun, which went off multiple times and resulted in Arbery’s subsequent death. No charges were brought against the McMichael’s. His death sparked outrage and protests but it wasn’t until a video of the incident surfaced online Tuesday that it began to garner national attention. Celebrities have even come out in support of Arbery. Now, their demands have been heard and the case will go before a grand jury. Unfortunately, that will have to wait until June due to the pandemic.
