Additional Funds May be Added to Paycheck Protection Program

It took just 13 days for the Paycheck Protection Program funds to be completely depleted. The program was made up of almost $350 billion and was allocated amongst small businesses across the entire country. But many of the much smaller, more local businesses reported receiving nothing, while larger businesses like Shake Shack and Taco Cabana were granted millions. While Shake Shack has returned it’s $10 million grant back to the government to be split amongst independent restaurants “who need it most”, it still won’t make up for the demand. Talks began on Capitol Hill as soon as the money ran out. How quickly additional funding is approved depends entirely on small details that both sides want in place to try to prevent something like this from happening again. President Trump has confirmed that he believes the house is close to making a deal worth $300 billion.
