President Trump Working to Reverse Medical Supply Shortages
The U.S. continues to be the most affected country in the world with almost 377,000 confirmed cases and almost 12,000 deaths. With such alarming numbers, some hospitals say they will run out of supplies in just a few days. The president has signed into effect a deal with 3M that will have the manufacturer creating nearly 55.5 million N95 masks a month. It’s a major step towards getting the supplies for health care workers and first responders fighting at the front lines of this virus. However, many feel this still is not enough. A group of bipartisan senators have asked the president to do more, explaining more supplies are needed than just face masks. There is some hope in these dark days as California and Washington have reported somewhat steadily declining hospitalization numbers. They believe social distancing and stay-at-home orders are largely to thank. New York has also seen similar trends. These new numbers suggest we have a chance at flattening the curve as well as reducing the number of people projected to die.
