Senate Impeachment Trial Began Yesterday

After more than twelve straight hours, well past 1 A.M., the first day of the senate impeachment trial came to a close. The main issue debated yesterday was the trial rules. The senate, as expected, voted along party lines to approve the rules resolution from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. The resolutions included extending the opening statement deadline. Both parties will now have 12 hours each to make their cases over three days instead of two. They also rejected democrats attempts to subpoena witnesses and evidence without a vote. The debates were reported to have been intense and bitterly fought and at one point both legal teams were even scolded by Chief Justice John Roberts for their inappropriate behavior. Now each legal team is preparing for another round of heated debates expected to take place later today.
