Man Faces $1.5 Million in Bond After Smash and Grab Thefts

A man’s bail has been posted at $1.5 million following a series of smash and grab thefts he’d committed since December. 48-year-old Richard Parnell was arrested over the weekend for a series of thefts from cars parked in mall parking lots between December and January. He’s accused of smashing in windows and stealing purses, bank cards, cash, social security cars, wallets, clothes, medications, an Ipad and more. Yesterday, he was charged with 15 counts of breaking into motor vehicles or fuel tanks and one count of financial transaction card theft. Almost every charge was posted with $100,000 in bond which added up to that $1.5 million.
