Simple Battery Warrant Issued for NFL Player

An arrest warrant has been issued for NFL player Odell Beckham Jr. for simple battery of a security officer. New Orleans police sought the warrant after a video surfaced of him slapping the buttocks of a security guard following LSU’s national championship victory over Clemson. It’s reported the guard resisted the urge to punch Beckham in response and instead exchanged heated words with him which can be seen in the video but not heard. Police originally hoped to serve him with a warrant for a misdemeanor sexual battery charge, which has worse consequences and cannot be expunged, but were denied. Beckham currently faces up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
