LAKE CITY: Mr. David L. Patrick, Jr., 41, died Monday, July 11, 2011, at Tuomy Hospital, Sumter, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Mr. Patrick was born on December 26, 1969, in Lake City, a son of David L. Patrick, Sr., and Dorothy Lee Patrick. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and attended Williamsburg Technical College. He was employed as a Federal Technician for the U. S. Department of Defense, and a member of the Army National Guard Det I-742 UTES (Unit Training Equipment Site), and served an 18 month tour in Iraq. He attended Matthews Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a former Mason and Shriner. David was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a loving son, brother and a great father who will be greatly missed. Surviving are his wife: Patricia Cantey Patrick of Scranton; mother, Dorothy L. Patrick of Lake City; father, David L. Patrick Sr. of Cades; children, Emily Lauren Guthrie of Florence, Drake Smith Patrick and Billie Ann Patrick, both of Scranton; brother, Derrick Scott Patrick and his wife, Tracy of Lake City; sisters, Debbie Morgan and her husband, Mick and Denise (Steven Lane) Strickland, all of Lake City; five nephews; seven nieces; and two very influential men in his life, Sgt. Major Roy Lee Johnson and Landy Thomas who he called “Pop”. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ramona Patrick. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cades, SC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 13th, at Carolina Funeral Home, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton, SC.
