Penny Hartzler, 67, of Dawsonville, GA passed away on July 4, 2011 at Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro Beacon Place in Greensboro, NC. Penny was born on August 5, 1943 in Lumberton, NC. She was preceded in death by husband Jay M. Hartzler and parents Evander C. Britt and Ollie Nobles Britt. She is survived by her three children, Anjenette(Victor) Hartzler Brown of Chattanooga, TN, Colon Louis Hartzler of Dawsonville, GA , Sharon(Tim)Hartzler Britt of Pleasant Garden, NC, grandchildren, Jason(Tracy) Britt , Timothy Britt, brother Billy French Britt and sister-in-law Mary Elizabeth Britt, sister Jean Britt Powers and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. After high school Penny studied to become a beautician and worked as a hair stylist until she retired in 2008. Penny was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She loved animals, raised horses, rabbits, cats, dogs, goats, a ferret, several baby squirrels, and fed many a raccoon along the way. She had a generous, giving spirit, and loved to laugh. Family and friends will celebrate Penny‘s life during a graveside service Floyd Memory Gardens 3720 Old Whiteville Rd, Lumberton, NC 28359, on Wednesday July 6, 2011 at 2pm.
