Elliott, Doddie
Doddie Wasdon Elliott, 84, the widower of Pauline Howard Elliott and Alice Mixon Mills-Elliott, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday evening, June 25, 2011, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mr. Elliott was born a son of Matthew Allen Elliott and Flossie Belle Cannon Elliott on May 1, 1927 in Andrews, SC. He was an accomplished brick mason who labors can be seen throughout Georgetown, Williamsburg, and Horry county. He was a World War II Army Veteran and was a member of the Andrews Church of God. D.W. and Pauline were married in November 1944 and celebrated 49 years together. From their blessed union was born: nine children, Paul “Tykey” (Libby) Howard, Wayne Elliott, J. Alvin (Jennie Lee) Elliott, Glen E. (Kathy) Elliott, Michael L. (Barbara) Elliott, Melvin A. “Dooley” (Teresa) Elliott, Marilyn F.(Paul) Roy, Patricia A. (Michael) Moorefield, and Teressa L. (Joe) Smith; 34 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. In September 1993, D.W. was blessed to marry Alice M. Mills and share the last part of his life with this wonderful woman and her family who he leaves behind: Dennis (Diane) Mills, Elsie (Bennie) Martin, and Danny (Wanda) Mills; 5 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by: three sisters, Dorothy Ethridge, Flossie Mae Webb, and Annie Laurie Cumbie; and a large number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: his wives; three brothers, Carl Elliott, Ralph Elliott, and Harley Elliott; and two sisters, Nonie Elliott and Bertie Marshall-Hiney. A Home Going Celebration with Military Honors will be 2PM, Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the Andrews Church of God. Interment will follow in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8, Monday evening, June 27, 2011, in the Andrews Chapel.
