Hickson, Adla Bostic

OLANTA: Mrs. Adla Bostic Hickson, 85, widow of David Buster Hickson, Sr., died Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Mt. Pleasant Manor in Mt. Pleasant, after an illness. Mrs. Hickson was born May 19, 1926, in Marion County, a daughter of the late Justin Bostic and Sibbie McClam Bostic. She was a graduate of Wilson High School, Florence, and a former school teacher in the Marion County School District. Mrs. Hickson was a long-standing member of Jordan Chapel Church and a faithful member of the community. She was a former Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star District 5 and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed. Surviving are: Her children, Dorothy (Silas) Morant of Columbia, David Hickson, Jr. of Murphy, NC, Lincoln Hickson-EL of Kingstree, Genise (Kenneth) Dawkins of Charleston and Anthony Dewayne Hickson of Texas; sister, Cora Smith of New York; 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hickson was preceded in death by a daughter, Lillie Hickson; son, Donald B. Hickson and five brothers and sisters. Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Rest Lawn Cemetery, Lake City, directed by Carolina Funeral Home.
