Jeremiah “Jerry” P. O‘Connell, 75, of Pinehurst, NC died June 5, 2011. He was born in Litchfield, Illinois on August 19, 1935 to Jeremiah and Mary Dagon O‘Connell. A funeral service will be held 6:00pm June 7, 2011 at Boles Funeral Home Chapel in Southern Pines, NC following the visitation from 4 to 6pm. A reception will follow at the Southern Pines VFW. Mr. O‘Connell was a commodities trader for Merrell Lynch retiring to the Pinehurst area for the golf. He was a member of the local Mason‘s organization. Volunteering as Scout Master he enjoyed his time working with the Boy Scouts. Surviving Mr. O‘Connell are his wife Sue Davis O‘Connell, two sons Bill (Donna) O‘Connell, and Jerry O‘Connell, grandchildren Nick, Dani and Jack O‘Connell, three step-sons, two step-daughters, two step-daughter-in-law‘s, nine step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents Mr. O‘Connell was widowed by his first wife Gladys O‘Connell and predeceased his son Mike O‘Connell. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital‘s for Children 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, Fl 33607.
