Teal, Freddy
SCRANTON: Mr. Freddy Odom Teal, Sr., 62, passed away peacefully Friday, May 13th, 2011. Mr. Teal was born in Florence County on March 7th, 1949. He was a son of the late Eugene Teal and the late Altha Godwin Teal and was the husband of Mary Ann Messer Teal. Mr. Teal was a long-time member of Scranton Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served in many capacities to include Deacon and Church Treasurer. He was employed with Sara Lee as a mechanic for over thirty-nine years. Mr. Teal had a passion for classic cars – especially Corvettes. He was a Master Mechanic and enjoyed spending time driving and working on his own Corvettes. Mr. Teal was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. Mr. Teal‘s surviving family includes his wife of thirty-nine years, Mary Ann Teal, of the home; his two sons, Freddy Odom Teal, Jr. (Rebecca), of New Zion and Wesley E. Teal (Ashley), of Lake City; his two grandchildren, Cooper Sims Teal and Charlie Bagnal Teal, both of New Zion; his two sisters, Dolly Logan (Bobby), of Alcolu and Patsy Owens (Roger), of Kingstree; and his three brothers, Henry Teal (Sharon), of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Paul Teal (Kay), and Buck Teal (Audrey), both of Scranton. Mr. Teal is preceded in death by his two brothers, Charles Teal and Pete Teal. The family of Mr. Teal will have visitation from six until eight o‘clock p.m., Saturday, May 14th, 2011 in the funeral home. Funeral services for Mr. Teal will be held at three o‘clock p.m., Sunday, May 15th, 2011 in the Scranton Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow the funeral services in the Scranton United Methodist Church Cemetery. Brockington Funeral Home, Lake City, is in charge.
