Russ, Robert Earl
Robert Earl Russ, Sr. of Maxton passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the age of 76. Robert was born September 28, 1934 in Scotland County, son of the late Earl and Mildred Willis Russ. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was the retired owner and operator of the Firestone Store formerly in Maxton. Robert was a faithful member of the Maxton Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a former member of the Maxton First Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and former Chairman of Deacons. Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother that will be truly missed. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Russ. Mr. Russ is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shelby Russ of their home in Maxton; three sons, Robert “Bubba” Russ and wife Chris of Laurinburg, Jody Russ and wife Rena of Laurinburg, Scott Russ of Wagram; his daughter, Linda R. Brooks of Maxton; brother, Johnny Russ and wife Gail of Hartsville, SC; six grandchildren, two step grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service on Monday at the Maxton Pentecostal Holiness Church. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Scotland County, P. O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353 Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Maxton Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by Rev. Mike Coble. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Laurinburg.
