Turner, Wilbur

Florence- Master Sergeant, (ret) Wilbur Thomas Turner, 75, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Carolinas Hospital in Florence. He was born in Horry County, a son of the late Ernest and Winnie Holt Turner. He retired from the United States Air Force after twenty-four years of service to his country. Surviving are his wife of fifty-three years, Toyo K. Turner of Florence; two sons, Glenn Turner and his wife Sherri of Sumter and Joe Turner and his wife Ann of Mooresville, N.C.; one brother, Clyde (Judy) Turner of Florence; three sisters, Kathleen (Sonny) Campbell of Darlington, Mary (Sheldon) Dawsey of Aynor, and Winnie (Harold) Hardwick of Mullins; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Turner was predeceased in addition to his parents by one brother, Walter Turner. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Florence National Cemetery in Florence will full military honors.
