Niehaus, Dr. Robert W., M.D. -Age 85 passed away April 24, 2011- Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Born 1925, Cincinnati, OH, to Lucille L. and Sylvester J. Niehaus. Served as pharmacist mate, acquiring college training for the B-12‘s, in the United States Navy during World War II and as Captain in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Graduated M.D. from New York Medical College in 1950 and specialized in pediatrics at Philadelphia Children‘s Hospital. Dr. Niehaus enjoyed private practice in Hyde Park, Ohio, while serving on the attending staff at Cincinnati Children‘s Hospital Medical Center until his retirement to Southern Pines, NC, in 1997. Prior to and during retirement, he enjoyed playing tennis, golf, working with horses, caring for his beloved patients and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Survived by Mildred Murphy Niehaus, beloved wife of 61 years. Preceeded in death by eldest son Robert W. Niehaus, Jr. Survived by children Lois A. (nee Niehaus) Swisher (Bill), Carol L. Niehaus, Douglas A. Niehaus (Sandy), Michael J. Niehaus (Nicole) and Andrea M. (nee Niehaus) Barnes (Clifton). Survived by grandchildren Robert W. III, Carlin and Patrick Niehaus, Jennifer (nee Swisher) Real M.D. (David), Christa Swisher M.D. and Matthew Swisher M.D., Margaret Niehaus-Sauter, Nicholas (Kelley) and Dustin Niehaus, Lauren (nee Niehaus) Dabbelt (Peter), Hannah and Merrick Niehaus, Malone Simpson and Will Griffin Barnes. Survived as well by great-grandchildren Stella and Brody Dabbelt. Preceded in death by brother, James S. Niehaus, and survived by brother Rev. Thomas K. Niehaus (Julie). Visitation to be held Friday, April 29, 2011, at Evans Funeral Home, 741 Center Street, Milford, OH 45150 from 5pm – 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial 10am, Saturday, April 30, 2011, at St. Andrew‘s Church, 552 Main St, Milford, OH 45150. Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH. Memorial service to be held at a future date at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 160 E. Vermont Avenue, Southern Pines, NC 28388.
