Dorothy departed this life on Sunday April 03, 2011 at 11:55AM at New Hanover Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Dorothy Jackson Hibbert, (38) affectionately known as “Muffie” was born on January 05, 1972 in Myrtle Beach, SC. She was the youngest daughter of Robert L. Jackson and Carolyn Gause Jackson. She began her educational training in the Myrtle Beach public schools and graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in 1990. Upon graduating from high school she enrolled at Claflin College in Orangeburg, SC, and in 1994 Muffie received a BA degree in Sociology. Dorothy was initiated into Delta sigma Theta Sorority at Claflin College. She became a member of the Wilmington, NC Alumni Chapter. At an early age she was baptized and joined Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She moved to the Burgess Community of Myrtle Beach, SC and affiliated with the Salem Missionary Baptist Church family. “Muffie” later moved to Leland, NC and became a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Wilmington, NC. Dorothy’s professional career began in Horry County with the Disabilities and Special Needs Agency, after she relocated to NC she was employed by the Children’s Developmental Agency where she worked faithfully until a few weeks ago. She was joined in Holy Matrimony on November 26, 1997 to Jeoffrey O. Hibbert, Sr. and this union was blessed with two (2) sons, Jeoffrey O. Hibbert, Jr., and Bison J. Hibbert. Dorothy was a kind, quite Christian and a dedicated worker who worked hard and did her best to improve mankind. She was a devoted loving wife, a loving and caring mother, and a precious daughter. Dorothy loved Jesus and showed her love for Jesus by always doing for others. She demonstrated during her illness that she could do all things through Christ who strengthened her. Her memories will always be cherished by her loving and devoted husband, Jeoffrey O. Hibbert Sr.; her loving sons, Jeoffrey O. Hibbert Jr. and Bison J. Hibbert of the home; her caring father and mother, Robert L. Jackson and Carolyn Jackson of Myrtle Beach, SC; father-n-law, Phillip Hibbert of Jamaica; one (1) sister, Sarah “Pencil” (Tyrone) Harts of Myrtle Beach, SC; four (4) sister-in-laws, Jennifer Hibbert of Columbia, SC, Joy Cotto, of Atlanta, GA, Dawn Hibbert of Jamaica and Sandra Hibbert of West Palm Beach, FL; six (6) brother-in-laws, Corey (Jodie) Hibbert of Lincoln, NB, Elwood Hibbert and Anthony Hibbert of Denmark, SC, Gary Hibbert and Ferdinard Hibbert of Jamaica, and Johhnie Hibbert of Atlanta, GA; three (3) aunts, Emma N. Grant, Rose M (Rev. William) Nesbitt of Myrtle Beach, SC and Josephine Davis of Philadelphia, PA; three (3) aunt-in-laws, Sara Broxton, of Denmark, SC., Flora Wavl and Inez Masters of New York; five (5) uncles, Roy Gause, Jr., Kent D. Gause, Donie L. (Earnestine) Gause, Champion (Helen) Jackson, and Stafford Brown all of Myrtle Beach, SC; four (4) uncle-in-laws Lloyd Hibbert, Hector Hibbert, Zedekiah Hibbert all of New York and Sinclair McNealy of New Jersey; an adopted grandmother, Mrs. Annie B. Futrell of Myrtle Beach, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Friday, April 08, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Ocean View Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 2:30 PM Saturday, April 09, 2011 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC. Interment will follow at Pine Island Community Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home of Horry County.
