Collins, Mittie Lynch
SCRANTON: Mrs. Mittie Lynch Collins, 88, widow of L. C. “Lucky” Collins, died Saturday, April 02, 2011, at Carolinas Hospital, Florence, after an illness. Mrs. Collins was born on June 10, 1922, in Florence County, a daughter of the late Tillman and Fannie Caulder Lynch. She was a homemaker and member of Unity Christian Fellowship Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Collins was very active in nursing home, prison and community ministries and was a faithful caregiver for many years for home-bound and hospital patients. Surviving are: Her daughter, Rivie C. McClam and her husband, Terry of Scranton; two granddaughters, Hope McClam of Scranton and Faith McClam Atkinson and her husband, Rev. Jeff of Conway; two great-granddaughters, MacKenzie and Riley Atkinson of Conway; and one sister, Pat McClam of Scranton. Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by a sister, Essie L. Hill, and six brothers, Wyndell Lynch, Tillman “Junior” Lynch, Jr., Theodore Lynch, Oscar Lynch, Ashby Lynch, and Troy Lynch, who was killed in action during World War II. Funeral services will be at 4:00 P.M., Monday, April 4, 2011, at Unity Christian Fellowship Church, Timmonsville, with burial in the church cemetery.
