Griffis, Dorothy Cox

Dorothy Cox Griffis, age 82, of Lumberton, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Wesley Pines Retirement Center. She was born on March 20, 1929 to the late Josh Cox and Mary Jane Jones Cox. She previously worked as a CNA at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Phillip Ray Griffis and her son, Donald Ray Griffis. Mrs. Griffis is survived by a son, Danny Ray Griffis and wife, Brenda of Greenville, NC; two daughters, Debra Pierce of Reidsville, NC and Sandra Britt and husband, Keith of Lake City, SC; three brothers, Dick Cox of Lady Lake, FL and John Cox and Sam Cox, both of Lumberton; three sisters, Emma LaClaire of Lumberton, Mildred Platt of Charleston, SC and Betty Cox of Lady Lake, FL; eight grandchildren, Amanda Bryant, Christopher Britt, Jonathan Britt, Daniel Griffis, Joshua Griffis, Misty Isley, Dawn Shelton and Carlton R. Isley, III; and eleven great-grandchildren, Aaron Mercuri, Arianna Bryant, Cassidy Griffis, Ryleigh Griffis, Carter Griffis, Mason Griffis, Hannah Isley, Ashlynn Brewer, Andy Glenn, Megan Glenn, and Kaylee Glenn. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 3:00PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton with Rev. Tommy Lewis and Rev. Keith Britt officiating. Burial will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011, prior to the service, from 2:00-3:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton.
