Truluck, Dorothy
DARLINGTON – Dorothy “Dot” Felkel Truluck, age 88, passed away, Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Carolinas Hospital System after a short illness. Mrs. Truluck was born in Anderson, SC, daughter of the late Fred Wilson Felkel and Altahlee Bewley Felkel. She was a graduate of Furman University and was married to the late Charles Ingram Truluck, Sr. Mrs. Truluck had worked as a substitute school teacher; was the first school secretary at Spring Elementary School and later became the first secretary at Florence-Darlington Technical College. After many years of employment, she had retired from the Department of Social Services. Mrs. Truluck was instrumental in founding The Lord Cares Ministry, of which she was a strong supporter. She was active in volunteer work throughout the community. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Charles Ingram and Cheri Truluck, Jr. of Florence; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara T. and Chesley Benjamin of Darlington; grandchildren: Charlotte Stewart (David) Price, Charles “Chad” Ingram (April) Truluck, III, Cody Truluck, Jacqueline T. Gause and John Benjamin, III; great-grandchildren: Taylor Truluck, Chloe Truluck, Cassidy Benjamin, Gabe Benjamin and Jacob Benjamin; a brother, Fred W. (Lib) Felkel, Jr. of Columbia and sister, Em F. Holman of Anderson. Mrs. Truluck was preceded in death in addition to her husband, by her son, Johnny Truluck, grandson, Jamie Gause and sisters, Kitty Talbot from Jasper, Texas and Lou Finney from Martinsville, Virginia. The family of Mrs. Truluck wishes to express a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Carolinas Hospital Systems for the exceptional care provided. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church with interment in Grove Hill Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.
