Lavoie, Julien
Julien “Jay” Lavoie, age 79, died March 11, 2011 at FirstHealth Moore Regional in Pinehurst. He was born on December 3, 1931 in Manchester, NH to Joseph Julien and Blanche Cote Lavoie. He graduated from Windham High School in Willimantic, CT. He spent four years in the Air Force following high school. He earned a Bachelor‘s Degree in electric engineering from the University of Connecticut and his Master‘s from Villanova. He went from engineering to marketing in several fields mostly with the government and ending his career in health care. He loved playing tennis but ironically loved to hate golf. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his grandchildren. His sense of humor was lighthearted, and he could light up any room with a smile. He is survived by his wife Marjorie of 53 years; daughter Michelle Clark and husband Michael of Charlotte, NC; son Jason Lavoie and wife Susan of Charlotte, NC; six grandchildren, Jake, Logan, Cole, Garrett, Luke and Taylor; brothers Douie Lavoie and Alan Lavoie; sister Julie Strong. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leo and a sister, Carmen. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home Chapel in Southern Pines with reception to follow.
