Murray, Rosa Marie

Mrs. Rosa Marie Ross Murray was born in Florence, South Carolina on May 21, 1967 to Thomas “TJ” Ross and Viola Thompson Ross. On Friday, March 4, 2011, she departed this earthly life at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Rosa, affectionately known as “Rosie”, attended the public schools of Florence County and graduated from Wilson High School. She furthered her education at Claflin University, Orangeburg, SC where she received a Bachelor degree with a major in Music and minor in Education in 1991. At the time of her demise, she was employed by the Palmetto Youth Academy as a Social Studies and Music teacher. She was also employed by Maxwell Baptist Church as the Minister of Music. Rosa was a dedicated member of Maxwell Baptist Church in Florence, SC. Besides being the Minister of Music, she served faithfully on the Ministerial Staff, Deaconess Board, Pastor’s Aide, Dance Ministry, Bible Study Ministry, Women’s Ministry, and as a Vacation Bible School Teacher. Rosa received the call to the Ministry and under the leadership of Pastor Daniel McCowan, was ordained as a Minister for Christ. She was a member of S & E Concert Choir, Gospelizers, and leader of Rosa Ross Murray and the Soul Winners for Christ. Rosa was also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Rosa was joined in holy matrimony to Kenneth Murray on June 29, 1991 and to his union three children were born. Rosa leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband of 19 years, Kenneth Murray; their children, Pamela, Kendra, and Kayla; four aunts, Lillie Brockington, Virginia Brown, Elizabeth Alexander and Dorothy Dubose; one uncle, Damon, Sr. (Laura) Thompson; mother-in-law, Deloise Murray; sisters-in-law, Elaine (Loubert) Vernot, Beverly (Michael) Williams, Delene (Rodney) Smith and Angela Murray; brother-in-law, Derrick (Yaneisha) Murray; special cousins who were like sisters, Doris Muldrow and Pamela Thompson; special cousins who were like brothers, Rev. Damon, Jr. (Carolyn) Thompson, Billy (Janice) Thompson, Ernest (Lola) Thompson and Ronnie (Laura) Thompson; 13 godchildren, Natasha Muldrow, Jerrie’Me Wright, Latoya Muldrow, Dezmond McCowan, Charlton McCowan, Damaris McCowan, Kida King, Dashawn Perry, Joye Jenkins, Tamara Planter, Krystal Daniels, Latoya Nelson and Tarren Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins and friends. In addition to her father, Thomas “TJ” Ross, she was preceded in death by maternal and paternal grandparents, Lawrence Ross, Rosa Lee Ross, John Thompson and Marie Thompson. Service:
