Maloy, Janet

Janet Y. Maloy, 81, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 15, 1929 in Cabin Creek, WV, she was the daughter of the late Bland and Juanita Hall Parker. Janet received her Bachelor‘s Degree from Michigan State University and her Master‘s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Marshall University, Huntington, WV. She was a Speech/Language Pathologist in Cabell County for many years until she retired and moved in 1990 to North Myrtle Beach, SC. She worked as a Speech/Language Pathologist for Horry County for two years until she retired again and began the retirement party. She worked for the golf course at Aberdeen as a starter and ranger and pursued her interests in gardening and art and became an accomplished water-colorist. Janet enjoyed spending time at the beach with her family and her beloved Shih Tzu, Samantha. She touched the lives of many children over the years, most recently as a volunteer/mentor for Kid‘s Hope sponsored by St. Stephen‘s Episcopal Church, where she and her husband are members. Mrs. Maloy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert P. Maloy, of Little River; two sons, Kevin Maloy and his wife Debra of Rush, KY, Sean Maloy and his wife Barbara of Carmichaels, PA; one daughter, Erin Finney and her husband Curtis of Jackson, NH; one brother, Jack Parker (JoAnn) of Holland, MI; and two grandchildren, Hannah Sue Maloy and Elijah Parker Maloy. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at St. Stephen‘s Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
