TSA Scales Back On New Gateside Program

Members of the expedited security program could apply in advance to receive a pass to go through a checkpoint with a flight ticket.

The TSA is scaling back a program that was recently introduced.

‘Gateside by TSA PreCheck’ was announced last month and debuted at 13 airports. Members of the expedited security program could apply one to three days in advance to receive a pass to go through a checkpoint with a flight ticket.

The program aims to make it easier to return to the gate for welcomes and send-offs, meet friends during layover, and enjoy dining and shopping along the way. This month, the program expanded to hundreds of more airports nationwide.

However, TSA has drawn back on the program to the initial 13 participating airports for the time being.  It’s unclear why the change was made.
